Paper Gifts for a First Anniversary
The first year of marriage happens quickly, and before you know it, it's anniversary time!
Why Paper is the First Anniversary Gift
When couples are newly married, the first gifts given are considered modest compared to gifts honoring decades of marriage such as gold and diamonds. This is in part because it is symbolic of the growth and strength of the marriage.
The traditional gift given for the first anniversary is paper because it symbolizes the blank page for your new marriage—the story that has yet to be written.
Paper is also fragile like the first year of marriage. Couples are getting more familiar with each other in the beginning and their gifts grow in strength as their commitment to stay together grows.
We've got some paper gifts for you to give your spouse or a couple you want to celebrate, including some not-so-traditional twists to the paper theme.
