Marimo Moss Ball Pair by Urban Plant Shop

$22.00

This adorable pair of marimo moss balls come in a 4" glass bottle, thrive in low-light conditions, and are very easy to care for!

Legend has it that there was a beautiful young girl from Hokkaido that fell in love. The pair wanted nothing more than to be together but were forbidden to see each other. They ran away together and during their escape, fell into Lake Akan, sinking to the bottom where they became Marimos, living together forever.

NOTE: If being shipped, your marimos, jar, and decorative rock will be placed in separate small zip bags to protect them during transport. When they arrive, place the white rock in the bottle first, followed by the rose quartz crystals, and finally the marimo balls. Fill to the top with room temperature water that has been sitting out for 24 hours to dissipate the chlorine.

Marimo care tips:
  • Change the water every 2 to 3 weeks with room temperature water that has been sitting out for 24 hours to dissipate any chlorine.
  • Keep away from direct or indirect sunlight - they thrive in low light and artificial light
  • If they start developing brown edges, place them in a much cooler environment for a while (possibly even the refrigerator!)
  • Move their jar every now and then to mimic the natural currents that keep them round in the wild
  • Little gas bubbles may form occasionally - this is a sign of happiness from your new friends!
  • Their growth is very slow - up to 4mm a year
  • They can live for more than 100 years in the right conditions
  • Marimos can survive for a few weeks without water, though it is not recommended!
